My Recent Drugstore Beauty Haul

One of my favourite things to do when i'm out shopping or want to kill some time is to go and look around the make-up in Boots or Superdrug. I can spend hours going through the aisles looking at all the products old or new again and again. However, this isn't necessarily so good for my bank balance, especially seeing as most of the time there are either some great offers or the offer of '3 for 2 on all make-up' which encourages me to take full advantage!

My recent shop included a mixture of new things (and some old favourites) that I am really excited to try out especially seeing as now it's getting to winter I can't wear so many bright colours anymore and really like the autumnal coloured trend at the moment.
Here's a list of the things I got:
  • Maxfactor Colour Elixir Lipstick in 'Burnt Caramel' - I'm absolutely loving this shade as a sort of 'your lips but better' colour which is a slightly darker shade for winter. I haven't stopped wearing it since I bought it!
  • Maxfactor Colour Adapting Foundation - I'm never too content with foundations and am always looking for a new one that's perfect. This one so far seems really nice but can be a bit drying at times however I do like the almost moussy consistency it has.
  • Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Just like many other beauty bloggers, I absolutely love this concealer. It does a great job in hiding blemishes and is something I can never leave the house without!
  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer - I love this concealer for under my eyes and think that it really brightens up my face and makes me look more awake and fresh, its another thing I can't leave the house without!
  • Rimmel Single Eyeshadow in 'Smoky Quartz' - I'm very much a neutrals girl and love anything that either has a satin effect or is matte. This eyeshadow is slightly glittery but I think that the colour is a beautiful neutral shade and the pigmentation is great, I've found it lasts me all day without creasing
  • Rimmel Apocalips Lip Laquer - I wasn't so sure I would like these when I first heard about them but now I am well and truly converted! I never leave the house without a lipstick/lipgloss on and think it can completely change an outfit and these are just lovely! The formulation is just right and they aren't too gloopy or drying for your lips. I am definitely going to be purchasing many more colours soon
  • Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo in 'Metallic Pomegranate' - I am in love with these eyeshadows either as bases or as a quick fix if I don't want to take too long on my eyeshadow, the only thing is I wish there were more colours out in the range!
  • L'Oreal Superliner Perfect Slim in 'Black Intense' - I love liquid eyeliner especially when they come in pens. This one has a super thin tip which is great for getting any thickness or shape you want and is one I have used for a while now and will continue to buy!

  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 'Transparent' - This powder has been a staple in my make up bag for years and I don't think i'll ever stop loving it! It's not expensive at all and is just an amazing powder for the price!

Let me know in the comments any recent products you've bought that you thought were great or just something you think I should try out

Fireworks and my Bonfire Night

I'm not a huge fan of Halloween, I never really have been. It's always been one of those days I like staying in the warm and watching TV or handing out sweets to 'trick or treaters'. However, I do like that Halloween means Bonfire night is just around the corner, which means the start of nights spent watching the fireworks from my windows.
A couple of pictures from a firework display I went to
Ever since I can remember, we would have fireworks on Bonfire Night in my garden, with my neighbours and friends and then have hot dogs and treats for dinner. It soon became a tradition and one that I still love to this day! Last year we didn't get the chance to do this but we made up for it this year and even had sparklers!

Me with my sparklers (Excuse the rubbish iPhone quality photo)

Fireworks are one thing that I can never get bored of! I could sit for hours looking out my window at the beautiful sparkles that emerge from nowhere. The magical effect fireworks have has never lessened for me and hopefully it never will!

What did you do for your Bonfire night? Did you see any firework displays?

My First Blog Post

For a couple of years now I have been an avid reader of many beauty, fashion and lifestyle blogs and spend hours reading through posts old and new. Then in my last 2 years at school for my GCSE's I had the chance to do media and got to put together my own magazine. I realised then that actually I loved the different aspects that went in to designing my own magazine and creating articles and decided that I wanted to do that sort of thing forever!

Since my early teens, I have had stacks of glossy fashion magazines piled up in my room and couldn't wait for the day that I could get next months copy. The same goes for my 'passion for fashion' (as some may say). Even when I was very young, I would have to have a new dress for a party and I was particularly handbag obsessed! (Some days I would carry round three because I couldn't decide which one to wear...I was 5 though and I've since just decided to carry the one though it can be very heavy)

So now as I get older and know how to properly apply make up and buy my own clothes, I can allow this love for all things fashion and beauty to flourish. The excitement I feel when I buy a new lipstick and use it or get a new handbag is something I want to share with you all! So it made sense that this would be what my blog is about with some everyday 'lifestyle' posts thrown in there too.

A few blogs have been staple reads throughout these past few years for me and I have not only found some great tips on what I should be buying or whether or not a lipstick was good but much more! The power that someone can have, purely with their words, and the ability they have to make my day seem brighter is amazing and I hope that maybe one day when I am no longer this newbie blogger, I can too inspire someone or encourage them in some way. Even if just one person can feel happy when they read one of my posts I will be over the moon forever. I'm starting from scratch though so bare with me as I learn how to do this 'blogging' thing, hopefully it won't take me long.

So this is the beginning. In years to come I may look back at this post and cringe at what I am writing right now (and quickly remove the post to avoid embarrassment), but hopefully I will look back and feel glad that I started. Who knows where this could take me and I hope it's somewhere great!
