OOTD - Checked Shirt and Blue Jeans

This outfit was slightly out of my comfort zone if i'm entirely honest, i'm normally quite a plain person who wears little tops and cardigans and buys something I like in every colour they have. There seems to be a lot of checked shirts around at the moment though and I've found myself admiring many, picturing what I would wear them with. So when I fell in love with this one from New Look, I bit the bullet and decided if I really didn't like it at least I had tried. Funny enough, I loved it!
It's quite loose fitted but so soft and comfy! I also think it's nice to wear with a t-shirt or vest underneath and to leave open so you can get a couple outfits from it too! I paired it with some new jeans that I bought from Dorothy Perkins that I absolutely love and my white Converse 'dance pumps'. The little roll ups at the bottom make the jeans look more casual or you can dress them up a bit more by letting them down. It's rare for me to find a pair of jeans that fit being so short and i'm definitely going to be going and getting some more of these!

I know i'll be getting a lot of wear out of this shirt, especially before the weather gets too cold and then adding a leather jacket and ankle boots when it does!

Are there any things you've tried lately that are out of your comfort zone that you have loved?

I'm off to now buy 300 of the same top in different colours/patterns!

Family Day Out to Cardiff

Last Saturday, my Family and I decided to go out for the day and visit Cardiff. We only live about half an hour away by car and it's definitely one of my favourite places to go to. First stop, we went to Cardiff Bay's International Swimming Pool in the morning. It's got loads of great slides etc and a Jacuzzi for the adults. I couldn't go in this time but we're definitely going to be going again very soon and i'll be the first one in! Instead of that my Mum and I sat in the little cafe and had girly magazine and coffee time, a rare thing in our house!
In the afternoon we popped along to Cardiff's city centre and of course went shopping in the St David's Dewi Sant Centre, I always have to pop in every time i'm near! The shopping centre is huge and there's even more outside with pretty little shops down lanes or 'arcades' and even more high street shops. It's my favourite place to do a big shopping spree other than nearer London.
This visit I was even more excited as I stumbled along Superdrug's new 'Beauty Studio' shop. It's honestly a beauty bloggers heaven! They have all the regular bits that normal Superdrug/Boots do but also stock some lines such as Make Up Revolution and The Balm which I was extremely excited to see and pick up a few bits from (blog post to come). They also have a nail bar, hair salon, eyebrow waxing service and a few other treatments available in store at a really good price, well worth checking out if you have the time!
When we were all shopped out, we popped to a little Italian restaurant my Mum has always wanted to go into called Giovanni's. It's quite small but goes back further than you would think and the food was lovely! All the walls are covered in pictures of celebrities who have been into the restaurant with who I assume is the owner (maybe Giovanni himself) which we spent ages looking through. We'll definitely be going back again!
Have you got a favourite place to go for the day or been anywhere nice for the dayrecently?

Packing for Holiday - My Travel Make Up Essentials

Following my post on Tuesday of the toiletries that I take on holiday, I thought I would do one on the make up I like to take when I travel too. Here are a few of the bits I took with me this year...
  • Benefit Porefessional Primer - My absolute favourite primer ever!
  • Garnier Skin Perfector Daily All-In-One BB Cream - I used this in the evenings for a bit of coverage that still lets skin shine through and was really natural looking
  • Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 'Warm Medium' - For those sneaky blemishes, I only really used a little of this in the evenings instead of foundation
  • Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer 3 Piece Camouflage Kit - I like to use this under the eyes as its got a peachy tone and yellow tone to cancel out those dark circles, the setting powder is great too!
  • Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Translucent Mattifying Powder - As I have combination skin, I always need a good powder to keep away that shine. I tried this one out on holiday and really liked it!
  • Sleek Contour Kit in 'Medium' - As both a bronzer and highlighter, this is great for travelling and really showing off that glowing tanned skin!
  • Benefit Rockateur Blush - A staple in my make up bag, I wore this everyday on holiday!
  • Soap and Glory Archery Brow Tint and Precision Pencil - Eyebrows are very important to me! This pen/pencil is great at keeping them looking natural but also perfect!
  • Soap and Glory Supercat Black Eyeliner Pen - My favourite liquid eyeliner at the moment, it's really easy to apply and hasn't dried out despite me having it for months now
  • Urban Decay Naked Palette - A go to palette for holidays, with gorgeous golden and champagne colours, this is all you could want for an evening eye shadow that takes seconds.
  • Benefit They're Real Mascara - Another favourite of mine, I couldn't be without it!
  • Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in 'Nudist' - I've repurchased this so many times I may as well just have a standing order. This is my favourite nude lipstick and such a lovely formula
  • Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick in 'Neon Red' - This bright red lipstick is probably my favourite one in my whole collection and looks great with a tan!
  • Natural Collection Mango and Papaya Lip gloss - I've been buying this lip gloss since I was about 11 and will forever, it's just a clear lip gloss that feels really nice on the lips and both smells and tastes amazing, what more could you want?
These are just a few of the main bits I took on holiday with me this year. I also took some extra lip products (as I said before I am a major over packer) and also took my Benefit Hoola bronzer, a set of Sleek blushers just in case and a few other bits and bobs.

What make up items do you take on holiday with you? Is there anything you couldn't live without?

Packing for Holiday - My Travel Toiletry Essentials

When going on holiday I am the ultimate over-packer in every sense! I always worry that I'm going to need something and especially when it comes to make up or toiletries, I worry that I won't be able to buy it there and my skin might not react well. So I decided to put together a few of my holiday toiletries essentials that I just couldn't live without this year.
  • Soap and Glory Face Soap and Clarity 3-in-1 Daily Detox Vitamin C Facial Wash - My favourite facial wash of the moment, it's got gentle exfoliating beads in as well so no need to take that with you on top!
  • Soap and Glory The Fab Pore Daily Micro Smoothing Moisture Lotion - Keeping skin hydrated in the sun is a must!
  • Nivea Daily Essentials Tinted Moisturising Day Cream SPF 8 in Natural - For a little bit of colour without needing any foundation on holiday, I use this in the morning just to even my skin tone a bit and the built in SPF is great!
  • Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter - Lovely for a bit of luxury for your skin after a day in the sun.
  • Toothbrush and Toothpaste - Not much to explain there...
  • Hairbrush - ...or here really
  • Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - My favourite thing for taking off make up or just refreshing your skin after a long day. Also great when using cotton buds for cleaning up eye make up.
  • Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray - A must especially when going somewhere hot as your hairs already experiencing a lot of heat in the sun all day.
  • Andrew Barton Brightening and Re hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner - I'm trying this out at the moment and really like the fresh citrus smell for summer!
  • Tresemme Hair Spray - To keep the humidity off those locks!
  • Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm in Cherry Me - With a bit of a tint to it, I love this to really bring out your tan and make your skin look more healthy and glowy, amazing that a lip balm can do this!
  • Botanics All Bright Refreshing Eye Roll-On - No need for under eye concealer in the day when you're just lounging by the pool. This helps to brighten without any make-up and feels so nice when you put keep it in the fridge!
So there's just a few bits that I wouldn't be without when going away

My Holiday to Gran Canaria

Recently I went away with my family to Gran Canaria for a week. We've been before when I was much younger but this time went to a completely different place and I think it's fair to say I fell in love with that place!
We were lucky enough to stay just a five minute walk down a hill from the beautiful Amadores White Sand beach which we went to every day even if just for a stroll after dinner. There's millions of little restaurants there and holiday shops that I did have to pop into a few times. They've even got a mini golf course at one end which goes on forever!
The beautiful view from our balcony, of the beach. I would just sit here watching the world go by for ages and could have forever.

One evening we visited what was described to us as the best shopping centre around in Puerto Rico. Just a five minute taxi journey from our hotel, this wasn't quite what we were expecting (we thought it would be a boutique mall for some reason) but still quite fun to peruse and people watch all the same.
We also visited Puerto de Mogán on the market day which is a beautiful coastal village that has gorgeous little rivers that give it it's nickname of 'Little Venice'. The markets went on for miles and led you to the main town area where you see all the boats and beautiful back streets. This was probably my favourite place of the whole trip, the white streets and houses were so beautiful, I found myself taking pictures of the same thing over and over again so I wouldn't forget anything. We visited a little cafe/restaurant as well which had just the nicest waiters ever! They were so lovely, it was almost like being part of a show just sitting there, as if they had known us for years.
On our 2nd to last day, we decided to rent pedalos from Amadores beach which you could ride around the sea. They had a slide to go down off and the sea was so clear we spent ages diving off the side. The funniest part of this was that my Mum sat on the side and tried to take a video and pictures of us, however when we looked at the footage afterwards she had just filmed her feet and ended up taking a picture of a jet ski which she thought was our pedalo as it was the same colour.
I had the best time and am already thinking of taking my friends back there next year (hopefully!).
Have you been/going to be doing anything nice this summer?

Packing for Holiday - A Couple of Outfits

This year, I was very lucky to go away for the week to Gran Canaria with my family. Like most people on holiday, I spent a lot of the time by the pool in my swimming costume and a cover up to go to the bar. However, we did go out a couple of the days and each evening, so I thought I would show you a couple of my favourite outfits I wore this holiday.
This Navy Jumpsuit has quickly became one of the favourite things I have ever worn/bought! It's really comfortable to wear and soft as it's cotton. I wore it with my favourite brown sandals and a little satchel bag then popped on a grey cardigan later in the evening when I got a little chilly.
I've had these high-waisted shorts for probably 3 or 4 years now, and never found any I like as much. I wear them in the winter with tights all the time, but love to pop them on in the summer too with little cami's or vests/t-shirts. This outfit was more of a casual one that I paired with plain black pumps to go to dinner in and a burgundy cardigan for later in the evening.
I've loved this dress for months now and finally splurged on it for my holiday. Luckily, when I popped into Urban Outfitters it was on sale as well, so I took it as that I was meant to have it! Red is my absolute favourite colour and I think the print and cut of this dress is so pretty and flattering and easy to wear. I just paired this with the same bag from before (Also from the Urban Outfitters Sale) and sandals from Next.
This outfit was a little out of my comfort zone, however when I saw this denim 3/4 length playsuit in New Look hung up I had to have it. It's really loose and again is a light linen material so really comfy to wear. I wore this with some bright sandals I brought also from New Look and my brown satchel bag again.
Me and my younger (despite me being quite a lot shorter) brother!

As you may have noticed, this coral jumpsuit is the exact same style as the first navy one (I couldn't help myself and had to get both colours) I just had to when I realised they were the right length for me as I'm not even 5 ft tall. I wore this on my last night of holiday and it looked great with a tan! I popped on my kimono when it got a bit cold (as mentioned in a previous post of mine) and think this will be a staple outfit for summer for me now.

Do you have any outfits you've been loving this summer? If so, i'd love to hear about them in the comments!

Until next week!
