Mini London Beauty Haul

A few weeks ago on a weekend away to London, I made a few cheeky make up purchases in Selfridges. I'd had my eye on a few bits from Charlotte Tilbury for ages but there's nowhere that stocks it near me so I wanted to wait till I could really see the colours in real life.
The first thing I wanted to try was the 'Eyes to Mesmerise' Cream Eyeshadows which are amazing. I chose the colour 'Marie Antoinette' which is a perfect muted champagne colour which is great for an everyday wash or a base. I also got the Matte Revolution Lipstick in 'Glastonberry' - a coveted colour that I absolutely adore. I don't have anything else like this in my collection but it's the perfect autumnal shade and feels really comfortable to wear! I definitely need more from this brand now!
Then whilst in Covent Garden I popped into Bobbi Brown and was immediately drawn to the Lipliner in 'Rose'. It's a mixture of a dark mauve and a more pinky toned rose that I think will look great through all the seasons. To go with this I also picked up a Creamy Matte Lipstick in the shade 'True Pink'. This again is a dark mauve colour with a slight pink tinge and is definitely going to become my staple colour for this Winter.

This Month's Magazines - November

Once again whilst grocery shopping I made a wrong turn down the magazine aisle (completely by accident of course, I was looking for the fruit section!) and thought I'd try out another of these 'Magazine of the Month' posts where I see which magazines that normally cost the price of a short book are on offer or which ones have some great free gifts that are just too good of a deal not to try. Of course, being a bit of magazine hoarder myself, this definitely makes my multiple purchases seem even more worthwhile! The Top 3 I found this month...

  • Glamour - Featuring the gorgeous blogger Tanya Burr on the cover, this months magazine also comes with a choice of Clinique products - either one of 2 colours of the Pop Lip Colour and Primers (Nude Pop or Cherry Pop), a High Impact Mascara or a sample of the Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+
  • Cosmopolitan - No free gift with this one this month but I did find it for only a £1 in ASDA, just the perfect handbag option!
  • Elle - Now the free gift with this one is something I've not even seen in shops yet - A Benefit They're Real 'Eyelash Primer' - something I'm very intrigued to try out and essentially is a steal with a £4 magazine!

Have you found any good magazines this month?

A Weekend in London

So just under 9 months later than originally planned, I visited London for a couple of nights with my Parents and Brother to celebrate my 18th! The plan was to do a bit of shopping, a bit of sight seeing and just wrap ourselves in the atmosphere of London!
We stayed just outside of London, about a five minute tube journey away from the centre. On the first day, after one of the longest car journey's I've known, we dropped our bags off at the hotel and spent our afternoon doing a bit of exploring. We had Dinner in a Bill's that we stumbled across just a little walk from the Tate Modern tucked away on Clink Street which was lovely, before spending the evening hopping on and off tubes on an impromptu sightseeing tour!
I absolutely love London at this time of night!
On the second day, we had a little mooch around the shops - Selfridges being first on my list which actually occupied the whole family for about an hour and a half! We visited the classics - Oxford Street, Harrods etc and even made it round a couple museums my Dad and I had been wanting to see!
Covent Garden was the last place I wanted to stop and where I ended up buying my beautiful Kate Spade Handbag! (A full post on this will be up soon!) I'm pretty sure it's my favourite place in London! Even when busy the atmosphere is so free and welcoming, I could spend weeks here and I'm pretty sure I'd never tire!

Where's your favourite place to visit in London?

October Favourites

I think Favourite's posts and videos are one of my favourites to read/watch especially with the change in season, I love to be a bit nosey and see what people have been loving that's new recently! Here's a few of mine from October...
  • MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick - In theory I have a lot of similar products and always seem to lean towards nude lipsticks however recently this is all I've been reaching for. The formula for a Matte is still quite moisturising and I've just found it the perfect everyday colour that's so easy to wear!
  • Benefit Rockateur Blush - A little rediscovery for me recently and I think possibly my all time favourite blush! I purchased this about 2 years ago and keep going back to it. I love the natural glow it gives and how it can be built up!
  • Topshop Loafers - Shoes are one of my many weaknesses and these were something a bit different for me but I absolutely love them! They're just a bit smarter for everyday wear but also a nice alternative if I don't want to wear heels on an evening out!
  • Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer - Once again I was probably a bit late to the party with this one and can now see why people really like it! It definitely helps cover my extreme dark circles and I even used it on it's own dotted around my whole face the other day and it actually worked pretty well!
  • Tresemme Deep Cleansing Shampoo - A bit of an odd one for a favourites but I thought I would just mention how good this was! My hair was getting quite clogged up from volumising shampoo's and various other products recently and I was struggling with product build up, but within 1 wash this had completely cleared it and I just use it twice a week now to keep my hair soft and shiny. It's so reasonable too!

Ted and Muffy AW15 Launch

A couple of weeks ago I was very lucky to be invited to Ted&Muffy's blogger soiree to celebrate their new footwear label launch! I'm a bit of a self confessed shoe addict so of course this was a perfect evening for me, full of gorgeous boots and accessories whilst sipping on a glass of fizzy!
Ted&Muffy are boutique boot designers that create both shoes and boots in an array of calf and width fittings to a beautiful quality. They have everything from classic brogue styles, to ankle boots, to some of the best over the knee boots I've ever seen! (If only I wasn't so short!) Their newly refurbished store is also beautiful, this is now the inspiration for my house when I move out next year!
The lovely ladies who organised and ran the event helped each blogger find their perfect pair of boots. After much debate and consideration (I had my eye on several pairs and just couldn't decide!) I went for the 'Wonder' boots in black leather and I absolutely love these!
They fit my feet like a dream and are so comfortable. The heel is just perfect for everyday and the leather so durable. They also dip down slightly at the front so are extremely flattering for a girl like me with such short, stumpy legs! I'm pretty sure these will be my staple this year, now I want even more boots!

My Autumn Wardrobe Needs!

Autumn is probably my favourite time of the year for fashion! I love chunky jumpers and cosy tights and the rich colours. This year I've also been trying to slowly build myself a sort of capsule wardrobe, making sure as each season goes that I'm picking up key pieces that will last me.

So this Autumn I took a little dig through and came up with a little list of things missing from my Autumn Wardrobe that I think are sure staples!
Denim Cord Skirt
Camel Coloured Button Down Skirt
Burgundy Blouse
Heeled Ankle Boots
Boyfriend Coat
Khaki Jeans

What are your staples for Autumn?

September Favourites

These past couple of months my daily routine has changed enormously and week to week I seem to just run through the days without even realising. So this month and last month I've ended up with a few staple favourites that have really stood out!
  • Benefit 'Rollerlash' Mascara - I actually got a sample of this as I can have a bad reaction to mascaras but really wanted to try it out and will definitely be picking up the full size, I don't think I've ever loved a mascara as much as this one!
  • MAC 'Brave' Lipstick - This wasn't a colour I ever thought I'd like as much as I do as I normally just go for nude lipsticks, but I actually love the subtle pink tone to this! It really brightens up any natural look, especially on busy days
  • Nike Trainers - I've never actually owned a pair of trainers before except for working out, but when shopping in an outlet mall a few months ago I fell in love with these. They're so comfortable and slowly I'm converting to wearing them with casual outfits.
  • Clarins Instant Concealer - I was a bit late to the party trying this one but I can now see what they hype is about! This has helped to cover my massive dark under eye circles that aren't letting up at the moment, I think I may need to invest in a corrector as well to really tackle them though!
  • Blistex Lip Moisturiser - This has been an absolute saviour product recently! I always struggle with dry skin and these past few months my lips have been so cracked and dry and bleeding no matter how much lip salve I use! So I picked this up on a whim and it's been so good, I only use it morning and night but already my lips are feeling softer and a lot less sore!

Autumn Wishlist 2015

So summer has pretty much been and gone in the blink of an eye for us in England and to be quite honest I've been wishing Autumn to arrive. The past few weeks it's gotten colder and the weather's gotten more dreary and I've been looking forward to wrapping up in my comfy jumpers and staying in on an evening watching films. So I thought, what better time than to put together my Autumn Wishlist!

  • The Perfect Bronze Eyeshadow - Something that I most likely have in every wishlist, however the search continues for the perfect bronzed shade. I'm due in London a few times this month and next so I'm hoping to pop to Selfridges and have a scour of the Charlotte Tilbury counter for this beauty
  • Lace Up Flats - These have become quite a trend this summer and I think they're so chic! Definitely something that can dress up any outfit!
  • Copper Jewellery - I love the copper/rose gold tones for jewellery and I think it compliments the autumn pallets perfectly!
  • Chunky Knit's - I mean, you can never have enough comfy jumpers!
  • Brown Satchel Bag - Probably another thing that's in every one of my wish lists, I'm still searching for the perfect one though!
  • Button Down A-Line Skirt - I also love this trend that has come into AW15 and think the A-Line shape is so flattering. I've had my eye on this one from Miss Selfridge for ages and love the colour for Autumn
  • Light Trench Coat - Being 5ft tall I always have trouble finding a good length trench coat, however they are the perfect light layer for getting into Autumn before the colder times set in!
What's on your Autumn Wishlist?

The Skater Dress

I had my eye on this dress from Topshop for a while but for some reason never actually picked it up. Then a couple weeks ago whilst quickly passing through I had a little browse in the sale racks and found there was one in my size - so I decided it was fate and I just had to get it then!
It's a bit out of my comfort zone and slightly different to normal skater dresses as it's slightly oversized and a little shorter than normal but I think it gives it a bit of a 90's vibe which I'm totally in to at the moment! (It's the re-runs of Friends!) I love the lace detailing as well and have just found I've worn this so much. At the moment I like to wear it with just plain black tights and little pumps, then heeled boots and a leather jacket when it's cold or in the evening.

Have you bought anything out of your comfort zone recently?

This Month's Magazines

I've always been a bit of a magazine hoarder! This obsession goes back to the days when I would save my pocket money as a 13 year old and buy the monthly edition of Vogue, Elle and any magazine on offer, much to my Dad's dismay. I'd then proceed to read these again and again and save them up with the corner of pages folded highlighting the best articles. Of course, this hoarding didn't last long as I kept running out of space to keep them all but my magazine love still runs deep! So, I thought I would do a couple of posts a month looking at this months magazines, the best deals and offers/free gifts and then maybe one on my favourite articles. Let me know if you have any other ideas?

Anyway, for this post I thought I'd showcase some of the best magazine deals I've seen for May.
  • Glamour - (£1 - normally £2) - I love this one for popping in my handbag being a smaller size!
  • Cosmopolitan - (£2 - normally £3.80) - Great mix of designer and high street articles
  • Vogue - (£2 - normally £4) - One of my all time favourites with more designer products mentioned and a lot of style inspiration!
I've seen these magazines for these prices in all supermarkets, so I'm guessing its company promotions rather than exclusive to one shop

Let me know if you've seen any other great magazine deals this month!

Blogger's Chocolate Cookies

I love baking, as do many! With revising for exams and everything else going on, I've been baking a lot recently as my downtime in the late evenings so that I have to think about something else. I've got my own version of chocolate chip cookies that I've used for years and have tweaked to what I think to be a perfect recipe. But, lately I've wanted to try something new and seeing both Tanya Burr and Vivianna Does Makeup's cookie recipes, I just couldn't resist! (I noticed they're quite similar recipes as well) So I've chosen to mix them together a bit and even if I do say so myself they taste great!
Ingredients (Makes 12 Cookies):
275g Self Raising Flour
150g Caster Sugar
200g Unsalted Butter (at room temperature)
1 Large Egg
75g Cocoa Powder (although sometimes I'm a bit generous with this, what can I say I'm a chocolate lover!)
About 150g of both White Chocolate and Milk Chocolate
A Splash of Milk

Method:
1. Cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy
2. Add the egg and mix well
3. Fold in all the dry ingredients (I find it easier to do this a bit at a time)
4. Break up the chocolate bars into chunks and stir into the mixture
5. If the mixture is looking a bit dry and not all mixed together, add a splash of milk just to add a little moisture
6. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper and scoop the mixture into 12 balls (make sure to place them far apart on the trays)
7. Place in a pre-heated oven at Gas Mark 6 for 10-12 minutes
8. Remove them and leave to cool for around 30 minutes

Have you made Tanya or Anna's cookies before? Let me know other recipes I should try!

Spring Make Up Menu

Again, as the seasons have changed so does our skin and in particular I love a little change of make up to suit the season. Spring is probably one of my favourite times for make up as the weather isn't too warm to melt off all my make up in an hour and isn't too cold that my skin becomes overrun with little dry patches.

  • Brightening Concealer - I love a good highlight but am not yet at the stage in the year where I wear a stronger powder highlight that works best when the weather's a bit warmer. Personally, a lightening concealer is the way forward on the high points of the face to add a sheen and healthy glow
  • Light Blusher's - I think blusher really brings a make up look together and at this time of year love to use a light pink or slightly peach toned blusher to give a warm flush to the face
  • Lip Butters/Sheer Lipsticks - I prefer lighter lip products this time of year and lip butters are a great way to go. You still get a good amount of pigment, with a moisturising and more glossy finish
  • Baked Bronzer - I'm a bit obsessed with baked products at the moment and I love these to give a little highlight as well as lightly warm up the face whilst I'm not yet to tanned!
  • Pastel Nails - I'm truly awful at painting my nails, however there are so many beautiful pastel colours perfect for spring time which I think look great!

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter's

Another thing I'm probably quite late to the party with coming at you this week in the form of the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter's. Something that I've had my eye on for a long time and for some reason I didn't ever pick them up. I seem to be going through a bit of a lip product obsession though so it seemed a good a time as any to try these out!
I was very pleasantly surprised with how pigmented these lip butters are! The texture of them is so lovely and comfortable to wear and completely moisturising - especially seeing as my lips lately have resembled the feeling of sand paper! I got the colours 'Pink Truffle' and 'Berry Smoothie'.

Pink Truffle looks like a 'your lips but better colour' with brown undertones but also what looks like a slight hint of red undertone when built up. With a few coat this builds up to a lovely deep glossy colour. Berry Smoothie is slightly more pink-toned and again build's up to be quite intense despite being a lip butter form.

I'm so impressed with these and will definitely be picking a few more shades up, I might even spring for the bright colours!

What lip products have you been loving recently?

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

So I'm probably a bit late to the party on this one but I couldn't let this pass by without a mention! I've read mixed reviews about these but lately my other concealers weren't really cutting it for me and I didn't want to fork out for the NARS Creamy Concealer just yet as my skin seems to be having a little change around so I thought I'd try this out seeing as many people have said the Maybelline Fit Me one is a dupe.
I've been using this for a little while now and I am completely head over heels for it! I use this primarily for concealing my under eyes, but my favourite thing to do is use it as a highlight. I particularly like to put this on the tops of my cheekbones and love the natural glow it gives my skin. Recently, I lost this for a couple of days and found that nothing else I had worked quite as well as this does, needless to say I ran out and bought a back up!

This gives fairly good coverage, I have quite dark under eye circles to contend with and it does a good job of highlighting and covering the most part. The texture is quite wet but I like that as it means you have a bit more time to blend it. I find it then sets well as well and stays pretty much all day! I've even used this dotted around the whole of my face as a quick make up job and loved the finish it gave!

Have you tried this concealer before? Let me know of any other recommendations!

April Favourites 2015

This month, I seem to have gotten into a bit of a routine with my make up and hair, but there have been some stand out products that I've really loved coming into spring!
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer - I know I'm probably late to the band-waggon with these ones but for the life of me I don't know what I did before I had this in my life! I love this for under the eye and especially as a highlighter on the tops of my cheeks. I've even used it dotted over my skin and blended as a quick fix make up, it just works for everything, I don't know what I did before!

Charles Worthington Volume and Bounce Texturising Spray - Despite having really thick hair, I do love a good volumising spray! I find my hair is so much heavier at the bottom than my roots, so this really helps to even it out and I find is a must if I'm putting my hair up into a bun

New Look 'Cold Shoulder' Top - Seeing as the weather in the UK has been so lovely, I've been able to make great use of this top. I love the plain style but the extra little something with the open shoulders. I've already ordered another colour!

Make Up Revolution Baked Bronzer in 'Golden Days' - To go with the sunny weather I've been loving the summery 'glowing skin' look and think I'm now obsessed with baked products. I love the natural and radiant finish this gives

Current Favourite Foundation

Rarely do I find a foundation that I actually like. I go through stages of wearing foundation or just swearing off it completely. I'm definitely more of a tinted moisturiser gal' for day to day but I find having quite bad acne scaring it doesn't always give me enough coverage and I still haven't found one that lasts. (The Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser is top of my list to try though!)
I have combination to oily skin so I'm always looking for something to mattify my skin but not stick to my drier patches. I'd watched a video of someone on YouTube trying out the new L'Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation and knew it would be for me!

It's a fairly medium to high coverage matte foundation that doesn't even feel like you're wearing anything. I use a miracle complexion sponge to just push this onto the skin and damp if my skin is slightly drier one day and the finish is amazing! It claims to last for 24hrs - not something I've tried but it does seem to last really well. I still get a slight shine wearing it all day but nothing like I have with other foundations. Definitely a foundation I'd recommend for oily skin and such a good price!

What's your favourite foundation of the moment?

New Make Up Releases Wishlist

There have been so many new releases popping into shops recently, both high end and drugstore and I'm dying to try them out! As I read more blog posts and watch more youtube videos, I find myself compiling a little wish list of the new bits I want to try out!
Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint - I'm honestly rubbish at painting my nails, I just have no patience so anything that claims to be quick drying I immediately grab for and the colours in this range are so pretty!

Topshop Lip Ombre - I've seen a few people use these and am so intrigued to give them a try! I don't really know if it would look right on me, but it's definitely something I want to give a go, I particularly love the colour 'Baffle'

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Balm Perfector - I absolutely love the lip 'gloss' type form of this and am really excited to see if the balm form is any good!

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick - I'm going through a bit of a lip phase if you couldn't tell already. So many brands are bringing out some great lip products and I think the colour range of these are lovely!

L'Oreal Paris Color Riche La Palette Nude Eyeshadow Palette - I was so excited to see a affordable eyeshadow palette that has such a great colour range. I've been hearing some amazing things about this palette as well, I am a bit of an eyeshadow addict!

What new releases are you excited to try out?

A Bit of an Update

I've been away from blogging for a little while and thought before I started up again, I should let you know why. These past three months have flew by without me even really realising it was 2015 and in such a short amount of time so much has happened!

January was a whirlwind month! At the end of the month it was my 18th Birthday and I was due to go to London for the weekend to visit friends and family and do a bit of shopping etc. However, plans changed when my Dad was rushed into hospital for an emergency back operation on my birthday. Thankfully he is on his way to recovery now, but it is a long journey that has seen our lives turn upside down for the most part, unsure of what the future holds. Since then it seems life hasn't really slowed down and I find myself having to plan my days a week ahead to make sure I'm getting everything done.

This hasn't been the only thing going on, but I'm not going to bore you with everything that's happened (and to be honest that would probably take me a few days to write). However, it has bought us and some family members and friends closer and we've had some lovely support which I'm very grateful for.

On a positive note, some great things have happened as well! I passed my driving in February and after saving for ages, bought my first car which I am still so excited about! I've had some great University offers for September and some lovely evenings out with family and friends more recently and some lovely opportunities come up! Once my Dad is better, we're definitely re-planning the trip to London again to celebrate as well!

Between dealing with everything that's been happening, trying to balance normal life, a job and a busy college workload, unfortunately my blog was put to the back. I love my blog but I didn't want to be posting when I wasn't giving it my best effort. So from now on, I'm going to try my best to get back on track, posting twice a week (on a Tuesday and Friday) whether that be beauty related, fashion, lifestyle, or maybe even something different thrown in there.

I'd love some ideas of what I should post this year? I'd like to try some new things out possibly and hopefully build this blog up more, I've really missed it! Let me know in the comments!

REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial

Recently I've felt my skin has been quite dull and I seem to be getting some really sore spots and breakouts that leave me with quite bad scars. I've reduced the amount of make up I'm wearing and try to keep my skin make up free as much as possible but nothing seems to be working. Until I tried out the REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial Mask.
This stuff is truly amazing! In just the first use I was immediately hooked! I've heard some really good reviews about this but am always sceptical when it comes to masks whether they really do work miracles. This one definitely didn't disappoint!

I used this in the morning and noticed an immediate difference. My skin looked and felt brighter and a lot more smooth. My spots and scars seem to look a little reduced and not so angry, almost as if a veil had been placed over them.  Just overall, my face looked a lot brighter and more radiant meaning that my make up looked a little better through the day and I didn't really feel I needed to put as much on.

The only thing I didn't really like about this was the smell. I am really sensitive to scents though and I love the product so much I can definitely forgive this one little thing! This is the first product I've tried from REN and I'm definitely going to have to try a few more!

Have you tried anything from REN I should look for?

Soap and Glory Skincare Series - 5 - The Fab Pore 2-in-1 Pore Purifying Mask and Peel

Even just reading the name of these Soap and Glory products I feel slightly tongue tied! Today is the fifth instalment of a little series I'm doing every month looking at a product that I've tried from the Soap and Glory Skincare Range which I absolutely love!

This past month or so I've been trying out the 'Fab Pore 2-in-1 Pore Purifying Facial Mask and Peel'. This is a mask that you leave on for 15 minutes and claims to battle breakouts, minimise large pores and exfoliate the skin.
This mask is a light green colour sort of paste which goes on quite thick. I apply quite a good layer over my whole face really focusing on my T-zone and over the tops of my cheeks where I seem to get quite large pores. I then leave it on for the 15 minutes and use a soft cloth to wipe it off with warm water.

Using this mask I think has definitely helped pep up my skin a bit! After using it I notice that my skin is a bit brighter, a lot smoother and it has been helping me control my breakouts a bit (seeing as I've been having so many of them lately!) It has small micro-beads in as well which really help exfoliate. The scent of this isn't too strong and it just leaves my skin feeling nice and fresh!

Have you tried any good masks lately?

My Perfume of the Moment

I'm not one for particularly strong smells at all, but when I do find a scent that I like I can't really get enough! In only probably the past 2 years, I seem to have collated a bit of a perfume collection and can't seem to stop buying more! However, every now and again I get one perfume which I wear everyday and at the moment that is the Ghost 'Eclipse' Eau De Toilette.
I discovered this a few months ago walking past a stand in Boots and fell in love with it! Something about it reminds me of a memory when I was younger for some reason, I can't work out what or why but it just smells familiar.

It's not too strong and quite fresh so I can wear it in the day and not feel overpowered by it. It's quite fruity with notes including Sweet Bergamot, Lemon, Fresia and Musk. (To be quite honest I'm not sure what a lot of them are but I can vouch that they smell lovely together!) Personally I just find it to be nice and light and not at all sweet or too fruity.

I definitely recommend going and trying this out next time you're near a perfume section somewhere!

What's your staple perfume?
