The Skater Dress

I had my eye on this dress from Topshop for a while but for some reason never actually picked it up. Then a couple weeks ago whilst quickly passing through I had a little browse in the sale racks and found there was one in my size - so I decided it was fate and I just had to get it then!
It's a bit out of my comfort zone and slightly different to normal skater dresses as it's slightly oversized and a little shorter than normal but I think it gives it a bit of a 90's vibe which I'm totally in to at the moment! (It's the re-runs of Friends!) I love the lace detailing as well and have just found I've worn this so much. At the moment I like to wear it with just plain black tights and little pumps, then heeled boots and a leather jacket when it's cold or in the evening.

Have you bought anything out of your comfort zone recently?

This Month's Magazines

I've always been a bit of a magazine hoarder! This obsession goes back to the days when I would save my pocket money as a 13 year old and buy the monthly edition of Vogue, Elle and any magazine on offer, much to my Dad's dismay. I'd then proceed to read these again and again and save them up with the corner of pages folded highlighting the best articles. Of course, this hoarding didn't last long as I kept running out of space to keep them all but my magazine love still runs deep! So, I thought I would do a couple of posts a month looking at this months magazines, the best deals and offers/free gifts and then maybe one on my favourite articles. Let me know if you have any other ideas?

Anyway, for this post I thought I'd showcase some of the best magazine deals I've seen for May.
  • Glamour - (£1 - normally £2) - I love this one for popping in my handbag being a smaller size!
  • Cosmopolitan - (£2 - normally £3.80) - Great mix of designer and high street articles
  • Vogue - (£2 - normally £4) - One of my all time favourites with more designer products mentioned and a lot of style inspiration!
I've seen these magazines for these prices in all supermarkets, so I'm guessing its company promotions rather than exclusive to one shop

Let me know if you've seen any other great magazine deals this month!

Blogger's Chocolate Cookies

I love baking, as do many! With revising for exams and everything else going on, I've been baking a lot recently as my downtime in the late evenings so that I have to think about something else. I've got my own version of chocolate chip cookies that I've used for years and have tweaked to what I think to be a perfect recipe. But, lately I've wanted to try something new and seeing both Tanya Burr and Vivianna Does Makeup's cookie recipes, I just couldn't resist! (I noticed they're quite similar recipes as well) So I've chosen to mix them together a bit and even if I do say so myself they taste great!
Ingredients (Makes 12 Cookies):
275g Self Raising Flour
150g Caster Sugar
200g Unsalted Butter (at room temperature)
1 Large Egg
75g Cocoa Powder (although sometimes I'm a bit generous with this, what can I say I'm a chocolate lover!)
About 150g of both White Chocolate and Milk Chocolate
A Splash of Milk

Method:
1. Cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy
2. Add the egg and mix well
3. Fold in all the dry ingredients (I find it easier to do this a bit at a time)
4. Break up the chocolate bars into chunks and stir into the mixture
5. If the mixture is looking a bit dry and not all mixed together, add a splash of milk just to add a little moisture
6. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper and scoop the mixture into 12 balls (make sure to place them far apart on the trays)
7. Place in a pre-heated oven at Gas Mark 6 for 10-12 minutes
8. Remove them and leave to cool for around 30 minutes

Spring Make Up Menu

Again, as the seasons have changed so does our skin and in particular I love a little change of make up to suit the season. Spring is probably one of my favourite times for make up as the weather isn't too warm to melt off all my make up in an hour and isn't too cold that my skin becomes overrun with little dry patches.

  • Brightening Concealer - I love a good highlight but am not yet at the stage in the year where I wear a stronger powder highlight that works best when the weather's a bit warmer. Personally, a lightening concealer is the way forward on the high points of the face to add a sheen and healthy glow
  • Light Blusher's - I think blusher really brings a make up look together and at this time of year love to use a light pink or slightly peach toned blusher to give a warm flush to the face
  • Lip Butters/Sheer Lipsticks - I prefer lighter lip products this time of year and lip butters are a great way to go. You still get a good amount of pigment, with a moisturising and more glossy finish
  • Baked Bronzer - I'm a bit obsessed with baked products at the moment and I love these to give a little highlight as well as lightly warm up the face whilst I'm not yet to tanned!
  • Pastel Nails - I'm truly awful at painting my nails, however there are so many beautiful pastel colours perfect for spring time which I think look great!

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter's

Another thing I'm probably quite late to the party with coming at you this week in the form of the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter's. Something that I've had my eye on for a long time and for some reason I didn't ever pick them up. I seem to be going through a bit of a lip product obsession though so it seemed a good a time as any to try these out!
I was very pleasantly surprised with how pigmented these lip butters are! The texture of them is so lovely and comfortable to wear and completely moisturising - especially seeing as my lips lately have resembled the feeling of sand paper! I got the colours 'Pink Truffle' and 'Berry Smoothie'.

Pink Truffle looks like a 'your lips but better colour' with brown undertones but also what looks like a slight hint of red undertone when built up. With a few coat this builds up to a lovely deep glossy colour. Berry Smoothie is slightly more pink-toned and again build's up to be quite intense despite being a lip butter form.

I'm so impressed with these and will definitely be picking a few more shades up, I might even spring for the bright colours!

What lip products have you been loving recently?

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

So I'm probably a bit late to the party on this one but I couldn't let this pass by without a mention! I've read mixed reviews about these but lately my other concealers weren't really cutting it for me and I didn't want to fork out for the NARS Creamy Concealer just yet as my skin seems to be having a little change around so I thought I'd try this out seeing as many people have said the Maybelline Fit Me one is a dupe.
I've been using this for a little while now and I am completely head over heels for it! I use this primarily for concealing my under eyes, but my favourite thing to do is use it as a highlight. I particularly like to put this on the tops of my cheekbones and love the natural glow it gives my skin. Recently, I lost this for a couple of days and found that nothing else I had worked quite as well as this does, needless to say I ran out and bought a back up!

This gives fairly good coverage, I have quite dark under eye circles to contend with and it does a good job of highlighting and covering the most part. The texture is quite wet but I like that as it means you have a bit more time to blend it. I find it then sets well as well and stays pretty much all day! I've even used this dotted around the whole of my face as a quick make up job and loved the finish it gave!

Have you tried this concealer before? Let me know of any other recommendations!

April Favourites 2015

This month, I seem to have gotten into a bit of a routine with my make up and hair, but there have been some stand out products that I've really loved coming into spring!
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer - I know I'm probably late to the band-waggon with these ones but for the life of me I don't know what I did before I had this in my life! I love this for under the eye and especially as a highlighter on the tops of my cheeks. I've even used it dotted over my skin and blended as a quick fix make up, it just works for everything, I don't know what I did before!

Charles Worthington Volume and Bounce Texturising Spray - Despite having really thick hair, I do love a good volumising spray! I find my hair is so much heavier at the bottom than my roots, so this really helps to even it out and I find is a must if I'm putting my hair up into a bun

New Look 'Cold Shoulder' Top - Seeing as the weather in the UK has been so lovely, I've been able to make great use of this top. I love the plain style but the extra little something with the open shoulders. I've already ordered another colour!

Make Up Revolution Baked Bronzer in 'Golden Days' - To go with the sunny weather I've been loving the summery 'glowing skin' look and think I'm now obsessed with baked products. I love the natural and radiant finish this gives
